Safe Walking: A Colloquium on Pedestrian Safety

72 pedestrian were killed and more than tenfold this number were hospitalised as a result of being struck by a vehicle on NSW's roads last year. This Colloquium will present and investigate the issues, current knowledge, research outcomes, pedestrian safety strategies and future studies required to reduce pedestrian impacts and mitigate injury trauma. The latest data and research will be presented and strategies and countermeasures explored.This event is jointly sponsored by the Centre, the Australian Injury Prevention Network (AIPN) and the Subaru Australia. Sports Injury Prevention in the Field: fostering teamwork between researchers and sporting bodies

The development of partnerships between researchers and sports organisations is essential for the effective uptake of sports injury prevention strategies. The seminar presents the perspectives of sporting industry representatives and sports injury researchers who share the objective of creating a safer sporting environment. This event is jointly sponsored by the Centre, the Sporting Injuries Committee (SIC) and the Australian Injury Prevention Network (AIPN). At the seminar a member of the Board of the SIC, Peter Corcoran OAM, will launch the 2nd Sporting Injuires Report prepared by the Centre for the SIC. More info

Injury Data as Information: extracting meaning from injury data sets

Analysis of routinely collected administrative data sets can provide meaningful information, useful in the development of injury prevention policy. In this set of lectures, analytical research undertaken at the Centre will be presented, including the work completed by postgraduate placements from NSW Health.
