Making news

The IRMRC has been awarded a gold medal in outstanding achievement in applied research by research team by the NSW Sporting Injuries Committee in November 2006.

The IRMRC together with the Australian Injury Prevention Network and the Injury Trauma Rehabilitation (ITR) Capacity Building collaboration organised the 8th Australian Injury Prevention Conference which was held in September 2006 at the Scientia, UNSW.

The IRMRC is pleased to release its 2004 Research Summary. This document provides a detailed overview of the achievements of the Centre, including research projects, publications, presentations and collaborations. (May 2005)

The IRMRC and its collaborators were very well represented in the winners of the 2004 NSW Sporting Injuries Committee Awards awarded in November, 2004.

The Northside Junior Australian Football League was awarded the Gold Medal (and $2,500 worth of protective equipment) in the category: Outstanding achievement by a sports organisation in implementing or adopting a safe sport practice. It was awarded this for its significant role in, and support of, the IRMRC Junior Australian Football Safety Study (JAFSS).

Professor Caroline Finch was awarded the major award of the night - the prestigious FE Memorial Fellowship - "a prize to increase the knowledge of the recipient in a nominated field of sports science and research or to enable the recipient to continue research in a specified field of sports science at an overseas centre of learning or sports science research". This award includes a Fellowship of $25,000 and will be used to support her overseas travel to other leading injury research centres in 2005.
